Monitors claims, generates reports, and communicates with employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, medical staff and lawyers. Certifies, tracks and determines eligibility for leaves, provides employees requesting leave with proper paperwork, and ensures paperwork is completed properly and submitted in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as the point of notification and contact for employees regarding any incident or injury that could or has resulted in a Workers Compensation claim. This includes internal investigation details as well as any health information relevant to the claim from outside medical providers and treatment notes. Communicates with employees regarding claims or needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave. Facilitates the family/medial leave process from the employees initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for length of leave. Acts as the liaison between the District and the insurance carriers in order to handle claims in a prompt and efficient manner. Maintains reasonable communication with employees throughout the claim process to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their managers within reason. Advises principals/supervisors and employees on the process of workers compensation claims. Ensures required workers compensation notices are appropriately posted in all required locations. Advises principals/supervisors and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, and facilitates requests for short and long term disability benefits between the employee and Benefits Associate. Oversees the return to work process for employees returning from a workers compensation claim or family/medical illness. Facilitates and manages annual safety grant requirements. Completes annual OSHA report. Facilitates the donated leave process. Maintains complete and accurate records of claims and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices. Responds to requests for information in a timely manner. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws. Performs other duties as may be assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate Degree (preferred); High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years human resources or related experience or training required. Extensive knowledge of workers compensation required. Must have the ability to coordinate activities in multi-location environment and the ability to work accurately in an efficient and timely manner.
